EPC Register

EPC’s were introduced in the UK in 2007, forming part of home information packs (HIP). HIP’s were abolished as of October 2010, though the requirement for an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) still remains.

It is legal requirement that all domestic and commercial buildings under construction, being sold or offered for rent have an EPC.

The EPC register contains information on all Domestic and Commercial Energy Assessors, whom are responsible for producing an EPC. Assessors must register with the EPC Register in order for them to be fully accredited. Registering with the EPC Register also enables consumers to verify that a legitimate assessor is inspecting the property.

The EPC Register also contains information on all EPC produced. This allows any subsequent owners of a property to retrieve an EPC that was conducted on the property at an earlier date.

Consumers are also able to locate accredited assessors through the register, and can even get in contact with an EPC adviser, who will explain to them what an EPC is and how it will benefit them.

The Landmark Group operate and maintain the EPC Register. The government ensure that they stick to the necessary guidelines and provide an efficient service.
