Home Energy Certificate
A Home Energy Certificate, or Energy Performance Certificate, is a document that allows homeowners to view their Homes energy efficiency. The main purpose of a Home Energy Certificate is to provide information on how a Home’s efficiency can be improved and how carbon emissions can be reduced.
A home’s energy efficiency is rated on a scale of A to G, with A being the most efficient and G being the least efficient. The majority of houses within the UK are rated at D, properties below this are encouraged to improve their energy efficiency.
A recommendation report also forms part of the Home Energy Certificate, showing where you could make small changes to help reduce your energy use and carbon emissions. The recommendation report provides details on possible efficiency improvements, such as Condensing boiler, Potential savings should measures be installed and what the maximum potential rating would be. The recommendations provided in the report are just that, recommendations, so you are not obliged to undertake energy efficiency measures, though it will make your property more attractive on the open market.
