Insulation Grants

Insulation Grants were introduced by the government to help them tackle the issue of UK carbon emissions. There are two types on insulation covered by the Grants, being Loft and Cavity Wall Insulation. Both are part of separate grants, though the criteria in order to obtain funding remain the same for both. The main benefit of insulating a home is the ability to heat the home effectively and efficiently.

Insulation Grants are available to homeowners and tenants alike, ensuring that everyone has access. Those who do not qualify for full grants can receive subsidised grants that cover 50 to 70 per cent of the total costs. Those seeking to obtain a full Insulation Grant must be over the age of 70 or be in receipt of certain benefits, including, child tax credit, council tax credit, attendance allowance, income support and housing benefit, to name but a few.

Loft Insulation Grants cover any installation in the loft and roof of a house. Loft Insulation usually consists of quilts made of wool that are layered between joists.

Cavity Wall Insulation Grants cover insulation, as the name suggests, in cavity walls. Homes that are built between 1930 and 1995 will usually require cavity wall insulation.
